As a 27-year-old enthusiast in all Table-Top games, I have spent the better part of my life playing a vast variety of single and multiplayer TTRPGs and have been running games for my friends and paid customers for about a decade now - after having played my first game of 2E D&D when I was but 5 years old. My greatest strengths lie in the Fifth Edition of Dungeons and Dragons and as I have maintained a tight knowledge base of every mechanic in this edition, I have great confidence in running a variety of different settings in 5E.

My favourite setting by far to run is Granada, a world I created as a 5E sandbox, not too dissimilar from Faerun / The Forgotten Realms, but a bit closer to being a magi-punk setting with highly technologically developed societies in a world filled to the brim with magic.

I DM because I find no greater fun than to watch a group of players have fun as a direct consequence of my actions and prepwork.

Roleplay:

I prioritise PC-centric story beats and arcs, and love writing in-depth storylines and plots that my players will not only enjoy going through, but will feel satiated and accomplished at the end of. The journey is greater than its parts, but the end is undoubtedly the most important of all parts. I also provide more than ample time in each session for inter-player and player-npc RP interactions, to allow all characters, PC or otherwise to feel real and weighted in the story we weave together.

Combat:

I frequently create homebrew monsters based around unique concepts that either I encounter in other media or come up with myself, balance them for my parties and run them in engaging situations. I never aim to kill or go easy on any party, but instead aim to challenge. I do my best to ensure my players feel a sufficient balance of threat and reward, and take great efforts to preserve my personal rule that any consequences felt by players as a result of combat are directly due to player action, and not DM meddling. This has led to my players always highlighting the combats that I run as a highlight of playing with me, and keep coming back for more.

I love creating and playing characters based around flaws. I obsess over seemingly minute backstory details because I believe that each individual is greater than a sum of their parts, and the missing variables in that math amounts to intangible effects resulting of "the little things". As a psychology major, this intrigues me to no end and I can't get enough of playing characters that have a quirk that helps define them in addition to other personality traits. I love combat, and love creating characters that fulfil unique roles in combat, assisting the rest of the party to victory.

"AdmiralBenguin is a wonderful DM to play with. He brings his A-game to each session I've participated in, the campaigns that he runs have a great mix of both engaging RP and challenging combat. He is one of the main reasons that I've grown to love dnd, hes made an incredible story for some friends and I to play and experience together. He's patient with new players and can be open to homebrew (to an extent) if that's your thing. If you're looking for a top tier DM AdmiralBenguin is your man."

"I've played in multiple of Admiralbenguin's one-shots and campaigns and he is an amazing DM.
In all the games I've had with Admiralbenguin as the DM in he have been both punctual and consistent with not canceling.
If you are searching for a quality DM that puts effort into his work you have found your man."

"Benny here is one of the first DMs i have had the pleasure of going though a whole campaign with, and i could never ask for it to be another DM. Combat is challaging but fair, easily one of my favorite parts. I admit to not being a very active player so i can't fully comment on stories, but everyone in our group agrees that it's just about as good as combat.

TL;DR highly recommend trying a game with benny."

"So in short, I suffer from social anxiety, and yet I went out of my comfort zone multiple times in Benny's games. He creates a great atmosphere in his games and always makes sure each player will get their spotlight.

He cares about players' characters a lot. He makes sure that their backstories and choices matter in the world (and he makes sure that the consequences of your actions will catch up to you, both good and bad)

I have been playing in his games for almost a year now, and every week I have been looking forward to what the next session will bring to the story. If you ever join his game, then you're in for a treat"

"Benny was my first DM as a beginner player. His DMing got me hooked on DnD and I have now been playing in his games (one-shots and campaigns) for more than a year. I love roleplay and he has always catered to that by masterfully weaving my characters' backstories into the overarching story and world. My characters' choices feel impactful and he is great at collaboratively developing character arcs with the player.

Benny is skilled in noticing and taking feedback on players' wants and needs and catering to players who like more RP or combat or both. He has an encyclopaedic knowledge of the PHB and sourcebooks and is amazing at homebrewing monsters and balancing encounters. He enthusiastically creates custom classes, feats, items and even races for player characters so as a player I don't feel like my creativity is limited by official content. He also has no problem doing improv on the fly and accommodating players' wild ideas.

I wholeheartedly endorse Benny as a DM."

"Admiralbenguin has been a DM of mine for 5th edition DND for around half a year now. He has been one of if not the best DM I have played with, in my 3-4 years of DND experience. He always provides an immersive experience with many deep and interesting plot lines, characters, and locations. He is very good about changing base game rules that make little to no sense or are unbalanced.
I think the most admirable thing about Admiralbenguin is his commitment to his players. Sure he has had to cancel sections but he has always been committed to his players in more than just being consistent. In the game I have been playing in he has made a homebrew subclass for almost every character, he has also made even more personalized abilities for characters, a lot of which is piety, but also spells, feats, items, and even personalized quests.
Overall Admiralbenguin is a skilled DM in many areas and can provide a great game for players willing to put in the effort to make deep, motivated characters"

"About over a year ago I wanted to try out D&D but it was overwhelming, I was lucky enough to stumble upon his server, where he ran my first proper d&d game. It was the best experience I ever had playing something, and that was after a decade of video games. It was a beginner game and like that was a short campaign that very nicely introduced me to d&d. I was even luckier that the table grew into more of a server of friends who all enjoy dnd.
His games are so engaging, with insane roleplay which I absolutely love every second of, imagine a npc so interesting you could talk to hours with them or so annoying you'd stab them, both done perfectly. To epic and challenging combat which can last hours. On top of that dude knows the rulebooks inside and out. Creates amazing setting and has been dming for decades. Oh and does voices.

The best kind of DM is the one that DMs for their players fun, he does."

"I just had my very first D&D session with AdmiralBenguin and it was everything I hoped to experience for my first game. The way he patiently helps us getting used to all the mechanics of the game, as well as the utilities to play, was greatly appreciated.

Other than just being a very experienced DM who is able to balance combat, roleplay, exploration, and encounters, Benny is a tremendous storyteller and world builder. I still remember how he was able to turn some random prank I had set up and turned it into a story device to tell us the players more about the world he has created. It was extremely amusing and enjoyable to watch as he reveals all sorts of other mysterious elements in his world and story which really is making me hunger for more.

In a nutshell, Benny is definitely a go-to DM for beginners and veterans alike if you want to try and have a quick or lasting taste of the world of D&D."
