The path awaits…
I first set foot on the road when I was but a wee lad. I grew up on the stories of Bilbo, Frodo, and the Fellowship. My father and I bought the old (somewhat new at the time) red box D&D on a lark for my older sister. She never really played, but fast forward a couple of years and her boyfriend played, and I was interested, so he ran a couple of games for me. Before I knew it, my feet were swept out from underneath me. Already hooked on science fiction and fantasy (think Heinlein, Aasimov, Le Guin, etc.), I had found a new way to explore the worlds I loved.
I quickly moved from D&D Basic to AD&D (1st edition). When AD&D 2nd ed. came out five years later I balked and grumbled, and then saw that they fixed many of the glaring problems that we had been band-aiding for years. 2nd ed. has always been my game, and I spent many glorious hours trekking across all the known realms. In between I played a multi-verse of other games, but most especially G.U.R.P.S., Champions, the Worlds of Darkness, Shadowrun, Middle Earth (Rolemaster), as well as Robotech and Rifts. I found D&D 3.x and 4e much too crunchy for me, but I have fallen in love all over again with 5e. I have also done a lot of free-form online roleplaying, back in the bad old days of AOL chatrooms and IRC. I love playing, but I have always been a DM at heart. A good game, as a player or DM, is a special type of magic. For many years I was a performer at the Oklahoma Renaissance Festival, and I learned how it really feels to wear armour and wield a sword, not to mention a thing or two about creating magic.
While I left the worlds of imagination for a time, I have returned with a vengeance. I jumped into online role-playing, exploring Roll20, then Fantasy Grounds. I play primarily on FG, with Discord for voice and video.
I am a bartender and student, pursuing a teaching degree. I want to teach Literature to high school students. I know! I strive to bring a discerning eye and delight to my games, I truly enjoy crafting memorable experiences for everyone involved. With the recent pinch to my pocketbook, I have decided to try to make a few extra dollars doing something I love.

I enjoy games that have a heavy element of role playing and storytelling, but still with a fair amount of rolls. In my not so humble opinion, the best games are the ones where everyone comes together to tell an amazing, exciting, funny, sad, and most importantly, enjoyable and entertaining story. That is what D&D has always been about for me, the telling and sharing of stories. The rules and roles are meant to facilitate the story, not get in its way.
I run games that are immersive, imaginative, collaborative, and often cinematic. I rely heavily on theatre of the mind, and strive to paint a consistent worldview for my players. However, I use the resources available through a VTT for maps and tactical combat. I try to automate as much of the mechanics as possible, so that the story can take center stage.
I prefer my heroes to be heroic, though oft times heroes are born from humble beginnings. I craft intricate story lines, with overarching grand plots, and individual episodes that shine a spotlight on each character in turn. Moral dilemmas abound, and the world is most certainly not black and white. Sometimes the monster is obvious, and those who would stand against the darkness are in the right. But heed the warning of Nietzche, "Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you."
I draw inspiration from the vast host of literature, mythology, fairy tales, television, movies, and legends and lore, both ancient and modern. I often used published worlds and source materials, then tweak them to make them unique and unexpected. I also create my own worlds out of whole cloth, or by stitching together various, disparate pieces from many sources. In everything I create I want my players to be fully involved and invested, and I will entertain any idea or variation, as long as the story is good. I pick up new games quickly, so if you have a system you would like to play, let me know and I will see what I can do. I always enjoy learning new games!
I have sparked my fire against the coming of the night, and I seek companions true and brave to gather round, and share a mug of ale or goblet of mead, as well as a story or three.
I want to immerse myself in my chosen role, and explore the nuances of what it means to inhabit another life. I want to laugh, and I want to cry. I want to exalt in my victories, and wallow in my failures. Above all, I want to be a hero.

"Alexander has taken the group I am with not only through a fantastic Module (Mines of Phandelver) but then straight into an amazing homebrew. Everyone from the campaign has been engaged the entire time. Alexander takes care to make each player feel like the hero at one point or another which gives an epic feeling to each and every quest. We have had intrigue, large scale (25-30+ battles), mystery, and laughs.
I would encourage new players and veterans alike to come and give this a shot. Playing DnD with Alexander has been great and I continue to do so today.

"As a player, I'm difficult to impress. I thrive on stories, and paradoxically, on player agency. I also am somewhat new, (this was my 2nd (or 3rd) game,) so I always need help levelling up my warlock. This DM handles all three of those needs with grace.
Alexander is great at weaving your backstory into an overarching story. He also handles split parties with ease, whether by design or someone didn't show. In my campaign, our fights have become more epic in scale, culminating in a full on battle where the party gets stuck between larger forces. He has the technical know how, the empathy to handle newer/difficult players, and the imagination/vision to tie it all together. 11/10, would play again."
