An English Literature Major by education, and a world-builder by hobby. I grew up with Tolkien and Dragonlance, but the first RPG book I ever bought was Call of Cthulhu. I love exploring the weird outer edges of fantasy and science fiction.
I put a lot of work into the settings and stories of my games. I'm dedicated to creating engaging story-arcs that will allow the player characters opportunities to grow, and make meaningful decisions. I have a strong tendency to write plots that drift towards eldritch horror.
I tend to play a little loosely with the rules, preferring to keep the story moving and not getting too bogged down with details. If you have an idea that's going to add something cool to the story, I'm all about it! Even if it's not normally allowed by the rules.
That said, I'm also very comfortable teaching new players. Introducing people to new ways to have fun and exercise their imagination is the best!
As a player, my highest interest is always to be of service to the plot. If the GM puts forward a strong story line, my characters will back it as best they can. I often find my characters leading the group, because they have strong motivations of their own, and tend to put forward ideas when other characters sit back and wait to see what happens.
I generally like to know the rules of the game I'm playing very well, and will use the game mechanics to make characters that do what I want them to. Far from min-maxing, I tend to tweak characters into unique designs, and occasionally take great enjoyment from subverting tropes.
