Chicago resident. Started playing D&D when I was 10, led the D&D club in high school, and wouldn't you know it, I still play!
Action-packed, drama-packed, fun-packed is what I aim for. Pacing is everything. I tend to take a light touch with the rules; I'd rather let my players pull off something crazy and memorable instead of doing things by the book.
I like the players to feel like they know what's going on, and like they can make meaningful contributions. Helping players make their characters and understand the mechanics is key.
Walking the line between preparation and improvisation is also important to me. I can think ahead, but I can think on my feet too.
As far as settings go, I'm most used to high fantasy but have been having a good time with postapocalyptic lately. I always homebrew my campaign settings.
My favorite systems are:
-OD&D, 1e AD&D, Labyrinth Lord, Basic Fantasy
-Maid RPG (props to you if you know this one)
I should really describe my playstyle.
